DESCRIPTION:Run by a team of a registered veterinarian and a wildlife vet nurse\, students will be guided through the process of game capture and immobilisation of African mammals with both theory and practical experience. \nStudents will have the opportunity to learn the theory of game capture and immobilisation\, as well as put that theory into practice. Participants will learn safe weapons handling and have the opportunity to apply their skills by darting a wild animal with antiparasitic darts.\n(Note: Only SAVC-registered veterinarians are authorised to use the scheduled drugs required for immobilisation.) \nCourse Length: 5 days \nStudent Maximum: 6 per course \nUnit includes:\n\nBasic physiology\nComplications of capture\nConsiderations before\, during\, and after darting\nPharmacology\nWeapons safety and dart gun use\n\nThe completion of this course requires the passing of a theory exam.
