Weekend Activities

Weekends are your own time on the Safari4u programme, but this means you have plenty of time to explore the area! Weekend activity costs are not included in your programme fee, so it’s worth budgeting for any extra activities you might be interested in. A few options include, but are not restricted to:

(your accommodation) Hire a surfboard or do a full surf lesson (wetsuit included in the cost), join a volleyball match, or visit the bar for a drink.

Take a walk with the dogs down to the beach, have a late breakfast at The Village Bistro, relax at Crawford’s spa with a massage, enjoy a pizza at Wild Vines, have a drink at Jolly Roger, and much more.

Meet Temie and the team who provide a free lunch to all the kids in Chintsa Village every day, help them make the lunch, and join them on a township walk.

Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve

Game drive/ Quad Biking/ Kayaking/ Buffet Lunch. (Day trip activities or 2 nights all inclusive – activities, meals, accommodation, excluding drinks) A game reserve with the full lodge experience, as well as day activities like quad biking or a buffet lunch.

Quad Biking/ Zipline/ Visit Abby the giraffe. A small game reserve with a number of different activities for visitors, from quad biking with game, to paintball and canoeing.

Take a trip out on the waves and try to spot whales and dolphins – either “wild” or “mild”.

A locally owned and operated brewery that serves the Eastern Cape. Visit for a beer maker’s tour, drinks at the bar, or lunch.

Addo Elephant National Park

The third largest game reserve in South Africa, famous for large elephant herds but is home to the Big5. Enjoy the weekend away, enjoying game drives in the wilderness, with other activities in the area hosted by one of our staff or one of our trusted guides.

Fly or bus down for a weekend or more and explore the Western Cape’s cultural capital. Table Mountain/ Robben Island/ Curio shopping/ Boulders Penguin Colony/ Shark Cage Diving/ Cape of Good Hope National Park.

All of our staff have travelled around the area, so if there is a particular activity you’re interested in, chat to us and we can recommend more. If you are continuing your travels, we can also recommend things further afield.

In order to assist us in time management for weekend duties, you will need to let us know your plans by 6 pm THURSDAY if you want to book an activity that requires us to transport you. Activities outside of East London will need more advanced notice.

Weekend Transport

Please note that on weekends, there is a duty staff member to assist you in getting around the local area. The 2026 rates are as follows:

  • Driving up to the distance of Crossways (return): R50 per student
  • Driving up to the distance of East London* (return): R100 per student

* Airport transfers are charged at standard shuttle rates.
